December 11th: Aisha’s Wedding! Winterfest! The kids got to ice skate! Maia stayed with Papa, and Eric took the kids to Winterfest. We misread the time though, and they got there two hours before it opened! The kids, especially Serenity, were determined to skate though, and they waited! They filled the hours rolling down a big hill, and they met a really nice Zamboni Driver who let them sit on the Zamboni. And then they loved ice skating! Serenity’s lessons really paid off as she is still able to zoom around by herself. Donovan loved it, although roller skating was his favorite by a narrow margin.
Aisha’s wedding was perfect! She was gorgeous, of course, and the weather and the beach were beautiful! There were shells framing the aisle runner, and gorgeous gold and saffron silk on the chuppah. Aisha’s husband, Mike, is Jewish so they broke a glass and danced the Horah. The dance was so wonderful! It’s the first time I participated, and it was truly joyous and fun. When they lifted Mike and Aisha up on chairs though, she was gripping the chair for dear life!
There was lots of dancing, drinking and chatting during the reception. I tried a great drink called Sex on the Beach, with coconut rum and something blue, maybe blue curacao. The waitress noticed I liked it and brought me a lot of them. And some midori thing. Which was followed by a tequila shot that looked so similar to the midori thing I was a little surprised to find myself breaking my self-imposed straight tequila ban. Which led to me being extremely chatty, in English and Spanish, and dancing a LOT. (Which, ironically, I did just like I did in high school, by watching Doris, Aisha and Andrea and copying their moves, as I have none of my own.) =)
