We celebrated Eric’s birthday a bit early since I was going to be in Mexico for the actual day. The kids and I gave him his present when he woke up. Family Swedish pajamas! I got a pair for everyone that matched, and an extra pair of Star Wars pajamas for Eric and DZ. Donovan voted for that pair, and Serenity voted for the red reindeer. And since Eric’s pajamas were in pretty sad shape, I decided he could use both =) He LOVES them! Yay!
Serenity was in the school spelling bee! She did such a great job. We quizzed each other on words nearly every day, usually at bedtime in her room. She was never still, so watching her turn cartwheels as she spelled brilliantly is one of my all-time favorite memories =) She lasted 8 rounds, and spelled row, bird, nifty, inlet, precursor, perilous, and neutron correctly. She lost track of where she was in legitimately. And she was so calm when she got out! I was proud of that too. She looked a bit sad and frustrated, but was calm, no crying. And by the time she saw us afterwards she was happy and bouncy again. She has fun in spelling games! The funniest moment was when she got the word precursor, she asked for a definition. After being told it’s a forerunner, she said, “What the heck is forerunner?!?” But then she spelled it just fine. =) She had just gotten her haircut, and was absolutely thrilled with it. She swung her hair around like a headbanger at times, but fortunately it was short enough that she didn’t hit her neighbors.
In the afternoon I did a feather craft with the 3rd grade. They didn’t have a parent volunteer for the art project this year, and I had less projects than usual since EP and P2 both had awesome parents step up. It was fun, and I got a glimpse of Serenity’s next year =)
We had a really great game night in the evening! Amy brought delicious drip beef sandwiches, and Amber made baked mac and cheese. Yum. I made pasta salad, mostly to feed him for four days while I was gone, and the kids helped me make Rice Krispie treats, a must for Eric’s party. I played the Oregon trail game with Ashley, and just as I remembered from the original game, I died of dysentery. Twice! The game was really fun though and brought back great memories! Eric played a Harry Potter game Amy and Matt brought, and he thinks it’s one we need to have, or at least play a lot! He’s scheming to have a Moore sleepover party so he can play his fill.
