December 16th: Crazy busy awesome day
Today we had the Winter Concert for school, Christmas crafts at home, and Serenity and I got to ride in a LIMO! Amazing day!
The kids were adorable at the concert. I loved watching DZ count on his little fingers so he would know how many times to sing "it's a small world." Serenity pointed to Donovan again at the "love between the brothers and the sisters all over this land" part again. She was doing LOTS of motions, maybe quite a few she thought up on her own. She's asking for Frosty on repeat right now, she loved performing it so much! =)
For crafting today I pulled out the sewing machine and just asked Serenity what she'd like to make. I had some suggestions for Christmas ornaments, but what she wanted was to make a Winter Wonderland animal hospital for snowy, her stuffed snow leopard. Well, Snowy is pretty big, so I pulled out a pillow form I happened to have and she made a real pillowcase! She did a decorative stitch on the hem of the cover, and did all the sewing alone. I helped cut and pin, but that was it! Donovan had admired some ornaments we'd made with Serenity a few years ago. They were just cardboard circles with notches cut into it that we wrapped yarn into cool star designs. I saw a snowflake project at Michael's with a similar feel so I snatched it up. He had a great time making it with all the diagonals =) But when he was done, it was a snowflake ninja star. He swung it by the loop we made for hanging with lots of sound effects. Too cute!
Molly and Wren invited Serenity and me to join them for a limo ride to see lights. It was awesome!!! I had no idea that there were houses in Tulsa that had choreographed lights to music! And we saw Rhema from the limo, which was entirely different than walking around it, the vignettes just look so cool from a little distance! It was so beautiful! The kids went a little nuts, sitting in every seat and occasionally lying on the floor, poking their heads out the window when we were slowly driving through the neighborhood, drinking beverages from the wet bar (I had CHAMPAGNE!) So fun! Serenity asked if we could make it a tradition so Donovan could do it too. We will definitely have to do it again when Maia's old enough to enjoy it.
