Hi.

Welcome!

December 15th: Candy Science!

December 15th: Candy Science!

Today we had the play date for Serenity's class.  It was a blast, literally!  We did lots of experiments, including mentos and diet coke geysers.  I froze little cones of baking soda paste into tree shapes, with food coloring, glitter and sequins.  The kids loved squirting vinegar on them to make them melt!  I also had trays of baking soda and pipettes the kids used to make cool colored designs with various colors of vinegar.  I love food coloring, and my fingers are evidence of that =)

I also set out gumdrops and toothpicks so the kids could build things.  I think the adults enjoyed this one even more than the kids.  I know I want a turn!  Maybe tomorrow after the concert.

I had a beaker filled with water so we could hypothesize what would happen to the gingerbread boy when he falls in the river.

Oh, and I got cookies from Merritt's for the kids to decorate their own gingerbread girls and boys.  This was so fun!  Although several of the kids loved decorating, but preferred to eat the cookies plain =)  I'm the same way, I'd prefer my candy separate.

The party was a blast!  I'm so glad so many could join us!
