Today was mostly a get ready for the candy party =) Since I had no motivation to clean, I played cleaning roulette with Eric. I assigned each room of the house numbers, plus a few extra slots that just let me read another chapter of my book before picking another number. It worked great, I cleaned and organized 2/3 of the house and the kids told me this morning "I love how clean and organized our house is now! I want to help clean it!" I'm sure that resolve will fade quickly but it was nice to hear =)
Besides the cleaning fit, I spent a lot of time in the rocking chair with Maia. She asks to rock all the time, although it sounds more like "wock!" And then when I say I would love to rock, she runs giggling to the chair so she gets there first, and climbs in and waits for me to pick her up and set her in my lap. Then she wiggles to get out, grab a book, and asks for me to read. I've read Ten in the Sled at least 15 times daily the last few days, so that's the current winner. I just love that she's so snuggly! She's stopped saying bookee now, and says book or books and "again!" I miss that cute little "bookee" but I'm glad she still wants to read. And Eric coaxed her into saying it again for the video camera so that's awesome.
The advent goal for the day was to deliver teacher gifts and Christmas cards. We succeeded on the teacher gift thing, at least the kids did. Serenity walked DZ to his room to make sure the ziploc baggie with all the cards he made and the gift cards inside them made it to his teachers. And she assures me she passed hers out, and she even got permission from Mrs. Ritchie to get out of line and deliver one to Mrs. Hamby. Which is great, as Maia hates getting buckled into the car seat so I try to avoid it as much as possible. We did print our Christmas cards, but didn't make it to the mailbox.
