December 7th: Puzzle Day! IMG_4499

Today's Advent activity was puzzle day!  I got the kids each a new puzzle, Serenity a unicorn and Donovan a knight riding a dragon.  They were both 100 piece puzzles.  Serenity did hers all by herself, of course, but Donovan did really well with his too!  I helped him sort out edge pieces and helped him find sections to work on, like the castle section, the dragons, like that.  Just like Dad used to sort pieces for me when we puzzle =)  We got pretty far, but I left him to finish on his own since I needed to ice my foot.  Working on my own puzzle was a little strenuous for me today =)

Selfies keep Mama entertained while waiting for the tire repair =)

After Eric took the kids to school, I loaded Maia in the car to go get my tires checked, since the light had come on yesterday at the Nutcracker.  Well, after I started backing up I realized the tire was totally flat.  What followed was three hours of checking YouTube, reading the manual, googling to make sure there wasn't some magic latch I was missing in the taking the tire off step, as it would NOT come off.  Finally, I turned to Facebook =)  I'm so lucky to have lots of helpful and knowledgeable friends!  My brother Don called and gave me a couple suggestions to try.  I put the lug nuts back on touching the metal and drove the car just a few inches, which finally loosened it.  Kicking did not help, but since my foot was already sort of sprained (which I forgot until after I tried kicking)  I probably didn't kick too hard.  But I finally got it changed and the spare on and Maia and I took it to get repaired.  She was a rock star today by the way, playing quietly while I was shut in the garage (poking my head in every ten minutes to make sure she wasn't doing anything extra crazy.)  And she was great in the tire place too, playing with Magformers, listening to board books, and rolling around in the chairs at the shop.  She didn't pitch a fit until it was time to leave.  She would have preferred to just stay I guess =)  I realized that it had been 20 years since I changed a tire.   Dad made me learn when I was 16 and got my license.  Guess it's something you should practice occasionally!

I put Maia to bed a bit early since she didn't get a nap.  DZ and I went upstairs to play a game.  She was quiet when I got downstairs, so I cheered because she was asleep!  Then we put the game away and I noticed WHERE she fell asleep.
