December 17thWhen I called to check in on the sleepover, Jen asked Serenity if she needed to talk to me. Serenity responded, "No, I don't need to talk to her, but I love her." Sweet girl knows just what Mama needs to hear =) DZ had a wonderful time playing, but when it got to be time to sleep he wanted Mama so I came to get him. Of course, when he woke up this morning and didn't have Barrett to play legos with he said, "I should have slept with Barrett." And later when he heard Serenity had pancakes he really wished he'd stuck the sleepover out. Maybe next time =) We had a lovely lazy day at home. The kids got to do two days worth of Legos since yesterday was so busy. They've started the carousel at last! This means more cooperation since Donovan really had to finish his part today before Serenity could add hers. Then Donovan wanted to help Serenity with hers, which I assumed would not go over well. But no, Serenity said, "OK DZ, I'll put the piece in place and you can squish it down." And she let him do it with every single lego she added! I was so proud!
Our activity for the day was to make salt dough ornaments. Salt dough is the kind of thing I've always thought would be fun to do, but that I've never actually made time for. So I'm so glad we finally did it! I invited the neighbors to join us as well, so I was going to do a test batch in the middle of the day so I'd know what I was doing. Well, the kids wanted to help so we ended up making a whole bunch in that first session, which is good because they have to bake for four hours! Kneading the dough is a lot of fun, although ten minutes seemed to take forever. I also made some starfish for Maia's birthday party. My baby is one tomorrow! Crazy! She was very confused when it was time to do her handprint. She kept trying to grab the dough which made a lot of her handprints look like claws. But I managed to get a couple good ones. =)
The day ended when I went up to tell the kids eyes shut time. They've been working on stickering Christmas cards at bedtime. DZ gave me one and said, "I put this heart inside the wreath because I love you. I super love you!" Sooo sweet =)
