Today is our day to look through all the catalogues and talk about where we'd like to donate money. Last year the kids donated a cow and fruit trees through Heifer International. This year, they wanted to help animals so we "adopted" arctic foxes (although DZ is calling it an arctic wolf). Serenity chose to donate towards a birdhouse for migratory birds. It's so much fun talking about these options with them, and although I give them fifty dollars to donate they both chose to get out their banks and add some of their own money to the total. Serenity helped DZ count his out this year.
For myself I decided to donate some beehives. Help provide some income for people and we need more bees in the world.
Today was Serenity's school field trip to the aquarium, so Donovan, Maia and I met her there. It was so much fun! Maia stared at the fish, and toddled around the aquarium whenever I let her down. Donovan was all ready to go when I went upstairs to get Maia up from her nap. When I got back downstairs I discovered that he decided his shark swimsuit was a better choice of attire for the aquarium. And green rubber boots and batman knee socks. Awesome =) Serenity got to go around the aquarium twice, once with her 6th grade buddy and once with the green group. It was really fun to see all the kids enjoying it. Serenity actually touched a sting ray this time! And we got to see them feed the sharks, which was very cool.
