December 24th: Christmas Eve!
Today was such a lovely family day =) We started with our advent calendar activities, which were all Nativity related. We played Hide and Seek with our Little People manger scene figures. We found everyone except Baby Jesus, since tomorrow is his birthday! We read a great story called What is Christmas, and talked about the reason we have Christmas. Later in the day Serenity did a sticker dolly Nativity book, where she got to use stickers to decorate and dress up people in the Nativity story. She loved it just as much as I hoped she would! =) The kids also got their last figures for their lego and pony advent calendars. Donovan got a big pony, and Serenity built her last figure. I don't really know exactly what all the things she built for the Lego Friends set are, but she enjoyed it and there are lots of fun play opportunities there. I picked up a lego building plate so she could have something a little sturdier to arrange her scene on. Then the kids finally got to play with the wonderful presents we got from Jack and Patricia last night. Serenity got to do experiments with perfume, which was so much fun! And Donovan played with his sorting pie, which is such a cool toy. He got it out several times today, and it kept him busy for a really long time. Using tweezers to pick up the fruit, math and sorting practice! So cool!
Later in the morning we got to skype with Ann and John and open the presents they sent us. They even got to see Maia awake for a few minutes! And she got to hear her first Smogrodena. =) The kids danced very enthusiastically today!
Donovan and Eric ventured out to pick up some smashburger for lunch, and the girls enjoyed snuggling and reading the Nativity sticker book Serenity decorated. After lunch, Eric and Serenity played on the computer, and Donovan and I baked some pumpkin muffins. We did a painting craft that I'd been meaning to do all December, stamping Christmas trees with bubble wrap. It was a lot of fun, although the bubble wrap I had wasn't very bubbly, they still turned out cute. Oh, and I made our Christmas card! Maybe I'll print some... or maybe it'll just be digital =) We'll see how ambitious I am.
Now Eric and I are just waiting for the kids to go to sleep so we can play elves!!! So excited! I hope they like their gifts!
