December 11th: Make Presents We kept today pretty low key since Serenity seemed so sick yesterday. I canceled her dentist appointment and planned to keep her inside. Well, once she was awake for the day you would have thought nothing at all had happened the day before! She was her normal, energetic self! She had a slight temperature the night before, but it never went came back up after the one dose of ibuprofen.
So we ended up having a fabulous day at home. We made some beautiful wrapping paper on the gigantic roll of butcher paper Andrew gave us long ago. I pulled out the Do-A-Dot markers and both kids had a blast! I think they spent nearly an hour at it! Then they spent the next hour in the tub because the markers got everywhere. Serenity tried to put it on her mouth like lipstick... and then she kissed the paper. Impressive technique.
After Donovan went down for his nap, we got ready for the big day tomorrow! In the afternoon we played a bit of candy crush and made presents for the grandparents. Fingerprint candy canes from Serenity, and Color Wonder coloring by Donovan. He really loves coloring, and seems to know more colors than he lets on if you just ask him. He does not like the feel of paint, as we tried bow printing, but he dropped it when he got messy and fussed a bit. Although he was recently up for a nap, so that may be part of it. At dinner time, I started cooking and I had both kids at the kitchen table coloring while I cooked. It felt like a perfect Mama moment. =)
Donovan was hilarious at bedtime. I was reading a SkippyJon Jones book, and he tucked himself in under a blanket with Eric and pretended to snore =) After I put Serenity to bed, she came downstairs for a chat and didn't seem sleepy, so I went upstairs and snuggled in bed with her. We discussed the book she was reading to herself, Fancy Nancy Explorer Extraordinaire, and we agreed that a Nature Girl theme might be a good one for her next party. She is Nature Girl after all, just check on bird.com. =)
