December 24th: Christmas EveToday we watched our home movies from the last year. It’s been an amazing year, and we are so lucky. We got to see the day Donovan came home from the hospital, Serenity’s Rainbow Parade, Serenity singing Happy Birthday to Donovan when he was still in my tummy, and so many more special moments. I adore this tradition, even if I stayed up till midnight and still didn’t manage to burn the movie to a dvd. We watched them on the computer and loved it.
Even though it was just three of us, I roasted a turkey. We like leftovers =) So we had turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and leftover pie. Delicious! I just wish we’d had orange rolls too, I may have to bake them later this week.
We so enjoyed our lazy day at home. We opened a few presents. We like to spread Christmas out, so we open presents sent to us from friends and family on Christmas Eve. I got some wonderful things I’d been wishing for, including a book about how to teach sewing to kids and a snow cone machine! Serenity was very excited to try that one out with me =) Serenity and Donovan got a new Richard Scarry game which we played immediately, thanks Auntie Marilyn! And they got Oklahoma shirts that Patricia ordered! Serenity insisted they both wear them immediately. So adorable! And then Rosario came by with an awesome Dora flashlight. Such fun!
Later we went outside to play, and sprinkled the reindeer food we’d made from oats and glitter. That night, as a special treat, Serenity and I read ALL of her Christmas books together before bed. It was wonderful! I haven’t gotten such a long reading session in a while. =)
We spent the day playing games, snuggling and enjoying each other. Just what Christmas should be =)
