Today was Give To Others day. I’d planned a few different things, and we got to most of them. The first thing Serenity wanted to do from the list was to make birdfeeders out of pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed. She loved helping the birds find food in winter! She still loves being an animal rescuer, and we watched a couple of Diegos about birds later on in the day. Then we wrapped presents to mail to our friends Henry, Aidan and Evan. Then we ventured out to the post office to get them in the mail! That was a lot of fun, and it evidently inspired her as later in the afternoon she found some empty cardboard boxes I’d left lying around in our extremely messy house, and started putting some of her toys in them. She then decorated them with her colored masking tape and declared that she was making a present for Raegan and Casey. Then she asked for more boxes so she could do some for Barrett and Carson. =) They were so cute! I gave her the presents that I was planning on giving them for Christmas and let her wrap them. Her wrapping is much cuter than mine. =)
We also went on a shopping trip to Target. I gave her some money and told her she could pick out whatever she thinks Daddy and Donovan would like for Christmas. I won’t post what she got for Eric, but she said that Donovan likes to chew on books the best, so she picked him a new board book. It’s really cute, it’s called You Are My Sunshine, which I sing to both of them often.
We were also going to try to do something a little more charitable, like giving to one of the charities that you can give people chickens or a goat. I thought I could explain that, but I evidently lost that brochure and the one I found was a little too complex for her. We’ll try again when I find the right website. =)
Donovan was his usual cheerful self for all the projects today. I got these cute pictures of him when Papa came by for a bit. He absolutely loves to pull up and stand holding onto fingers. And he’s so stable! Sometimes he lets go with one hand to grab for something but he still stands so sturdily! He’s growing SO fast! I’m not ready for him to start walking away!
When Eric got home he suggested we take a walk through the neighborhood to see lights. The weather was so nice I’m glad we went ahead and did it today even though I’d scheduled it for next week. Lots of our neighbors have beautiful displays, including crazy blow up Santas on trains, or penguins, and snowmen along with lights. We had a blast! Although Serenity took off running down the dark street at one point and scared us both to death. Fortunately she didn’t actually get past me, so she only ran a few feet, but still way scary.
