Hi.

Welcome!

December 16th: A Million Lights!

Today was a challenging day =)  I don’t often write about these kind of things, but I want to remember them too.  Serenity and I are on the edge of being sick.  Just a bit of a sniffle and cough, but definitely making us feel run down.  I can tell because everything is a much bigger deal than usual.  She wants to snap herself into her car seat herself… and if I even start to do it, then tears.  She doesn’t want to eat at the table.  She doesn’t want to be buckled at all after gymnastics.  (She stopped crying though when I told her I didn’t really want to live at gymnastics and let me buckle her in.)  I ask her to do something and she responds, “I won’t!”  (This happens even when she’s not sick, but it happened more than once today.  Our current focus is definitely respect for parents and teachers)  So my response was basically, Honey, you’re tired and cranky.  Your body needs sleep so it can get healthy again.  And I made her take a nap.  Or rather, I made her lie down in her bed, and went to take a nap with Donovan.  She was still in the bed (or in the bed again) when I went up to get her, so I got some sleep my body needed to be less cranky and she got some rest. =)  Then in the evening, she bit Donovan.  It’d been months since she bit anybody so this was a big bummer.  After the time out and ensuing discussion, Eric was grilling her about it. “Is it ok to bite Donovan?  Are you going to bite Donovan again?”

“No Daddy.”

“Are you going to bite Daddy?” ”No, I not bite Daddy.” ”Are you going to bite Mama?” ”No, I will be good FOREVER!!!” With a big smile on her face.  I wish =)

Besides this stuff though, we had a good day.  Gymnastics, shopping for supplies for the party tomorrow, Panera lunch, and then in the evening, we went to Rhema.  We got to see a MILLION lights!  I didn’t take any pictures today, but it was amazing!  They had a whole tunnel lit up with lights that changed colors, and an entire show that was synchronized with music.  There were led lights that looked like they were raining from the trees, and snowflakes, and jumping lights, and all kinds of crazy things!  And it was barely chilly so we could really enjoy it!  So beautiful!  Serenity loved running from display to display, and Donovan looked around in awe while snuggling in the sling.  A very nice end to our day.  And Serenity said, “I love you so much Mama” as I was leaving her room after the bedtime book routine.  =)
