Maia's Harry Potter Birthday Party!
Party setup complete!!!! Maia knew this year that she wanted to play this game Eric had told her about, Blood on the Clocktower, which is a social deduction game like Mafia or Among Us, but more complicated π. The theme was a little dark though so Eric suggested giving it a Harry Potter theme, and Maia loved that idea! And of course, I was absolutely ready to work with that theme π.
The game needs lots of little nooks for people to talk, strategize and plot, so we made several fun locations! Maiaβs room is the Knight Bus, we have the Chamber of Secrets in the office, Diagon Alley in the entry, the Great Hall in the dining room, and upstairs is the Forbidden Forest! The party is going to extend to a sleepover, and the forest theme seemed perfect for Maia who has quite the magical creature collection π₯°π€©. Plus I had to do new and different Harry Potter fun π
The game room has really needed fresh paint for a long time, but repainting things the same color is so boring! A Harry Potter party was the perfect motivation though. I repainted all the walls and then did this mural of Hogwarts on one wall. Much easier than doing a new color since the ceiling needed to be touched up too, thanks to extreme swinging =)
Five below had the most perfect pillows and blankets for sleepover favors, and I bought Maia all the Harry Potter squishmallows she had been coveting (OK, I coveted them too. =)
She was SO excited!! And we have so many friends staying the night! Weβve never had a sleepover this big! π³π€©π₯°
Forbidden Forest! My brother used his laser to cut the signs π₯°. So cool! Plus Maia actually has a thestral and a hippogriff. We also tucked in a niffler, an owl, two patronuses, and Fluffy is guarding the off-limits corridor π₯°
Maybe my favorite touch π₯°
Chamber of Secrets using painted bubble wrap snakes, and reused castle fabric from a medieval Halloween about ten years ago π. Gold stars for me for reusing stuff π β¨ Sera graciously let us use Joy for Fawkes =) The Christmas lights we are still enjoying =)
I decided at the last minute to turn this bookshelf into a Harry Potter vignette. I had plenty of things to decorate it with just a few printables =)
I ordered wands from Amazon but they didnβt arrive! So I got up bright and early and pruned my crepe myrtle, added glue, paint and glitter for some easy and cute wands! And free π€·ββοΈ
Maiaβs room was already purple, and when one of the bloggers I follow turned her hall into the Knight Bus I knew immediately I needed to do that for Maiaβs room! It was so fun and simple!!!
I needed a table in the entry to hold wands for the game, and then I just kept adding every Harry Potter thing Iβve ever bought π. The kids Quidditch Robes from Halloween a few years ago, robes from Build A Bear for Madam Malkinβs, wand boxes from Ollivanders at Universalβ¦. It turned into a whole Diagon Alley and I love it π₯°Iβm ridiculously proud of the owl cage π. Itβs a tiered serving plate with packing straps from the bed we got a few weeks ago attached with glue dots. I dithered a lot over what I could make this out of, and even considered buying something, but then I saw the tray in the pantry and boom! Inspiration π
I got to reuse my fireplace letters! π₯°.
Seraβs rainbow birthday fabric is still giving ππ₯°π€© We got the donuts from OK Country Donuts of course, and the sorting hat is a new dog toy for Finn. =)
House Fruit cups =) Ok, the store was out of blueberries but Rice Krispies worked for Ravenclaw in a pinch.
Ian is Merlin, a Slytherin, and Timothy dressed in a Dobby hat I made. SO FUN!!! It was so nice of them to run the game!
Maia loved having so many friends over!
Birthday donuts, of course. Hedwig is so cute!
Memphis was the first Voldemort, Asa was Nagini, Hava was the poisoner. Alexandra was the second Voldemort with Landon as poisoner and Ziah as spy. Maia figured out the second game so the wizards won!
This giant jump for joy and exuberance is so Maia. Iβm so glad she loved her party!!!
