Great Sand Dunes National Park

Great Sand Dunes National Park! This is one of my favorite memories of our Western US road trip. It’s just so crazy that these giant dunes are in the middle of the US! I am really happy I brought the kids here. They loved playing in the creek and digging in the sand. About halfway to the nearest dune, however, I suddenly remembered when we were there the first time it seemed like it took forever to walk on the dunes and we never got anywhere! Whoops =) Poor papa hung back at a convenient bench, as I also didn’t find the best parking spot. I rented a sand board to try surfing, but we just got too tired to get to a high enough dune for it to work. I’m glad we went though, it was a beautiful sight!

I loved this part of the walk. We drank ALL the water though.
