Donovan in September

Donovan used his birthday money to buy himself a ukulele!  He’s taking lessons on Wednesdays and seems to like it.  It’s super cute.  He and Serenity even tried to play a duet. 

The kids have been playing a lot of My Singing Monsters lately.  I used to play that when DZ was a baby.  They like it so much there has been some talk of making it their Halloween costumes.  =) 

Donovan is planning to go with Eric to a regional tournament in Dallas in early October.  He has his deck set and has gone to practice several times at Covenant.  I hope they have a blast on their road trip!

Donovan is still happy to be back at school!  His teachers are awesome.  His favorite class is currently geography, and they got to practice using compasses on a mini field trip around the school.  So much fun!!!  Spelling is a challenge that he has to work for, but his teacher was really proud one day that he figured out the mystery word of the week!  They have a pile of letters they can rearrange, and after just one small hint he figured out the word searched!  Yay!  He really wants to get the challenge words on his spelling test, and takes it hard when he doesn’t score well enough on the pre-test to get them.  He still works on them anyway.  He flies through math so he rarely has any left to bring home.  He’s been playing four square on the playground and told me he managed to hold his own with some fourth graders he played with.  This is a big deal since four square is the main playground activity for all the upper school kids.  Sometimes they play soccer or football, but there is always a four square game going.

Donovan has gone on a ten days in Asia spree! He loves this game and he’s good at it now =)

DZ had a sleepover with his friends Hatcher and Trip! It was hard to get pictures of them, they were running around like mad playing nerf wars. They did play some video games and I caught them sitting still for food =)

Geography fun!!!

DZ has been reading lots of Warriors manga books! They have inspired a lot of sobbing but all the kids love them.
