October Fun!
We had lots of family fun in October so I’m going to do posts by event instead of by kid. =) First off, all the random fun!
Book Fair: We had an arctic adventure book fair! I ran out of time so we just had some simple decorations, but the kids had a lot of fun with the dress up days! And of course we got wonderful new books! Donovan is reading something called the Unicorn Rescue Society, and he likes it so much I had to download the next book to the e-reader and order the rest of them from the library! Maia got a few chapter books and was lured in to getting two books that included jewelry. We also got the third Wings of Fire graphic novel, and they all needed to read that.
House: I got a beautiful new garden!!! My front flower bed was completely overgrown. It was a tiny bed and they’d stuffed it with huge boxwoods, a crepe myrtle, knockout roses, and nandina. Some other little round bush too! There was a big holly at the corner, and a ninja elm tree sprouted inside it and I didn’t notice until it was a huge tree! I tried to dig it out and cut it down last year but it wouldn’t die! And we couldn’t just leave a tree like that right by the house to mess with the foundation, so this year I hired an expert! I gave him a wish list of plants and he came and cleaned out the bed, leveled it, expanded it a bit so the things he planted actually fit, and then put the new plants in! Plus he added a beautiful new rock, which the kids love, and we have rock mulch instead of regular mulch so it will stay dark and beautiful! Plus no more grass growing in the flower bed! Yippee! It has hydrangea, Indian Hawthorne, lamb’s ear, juniper (blue and creeping), flowering sage and a beautiful new crepe myrtle with dark leaves. It’s gorgeous. It’ll bloom in purples and whites!
Jogathon: We had perfect weather for the Jogathon. This year all of my kids ran at a different time, but I always stay to take pictures anyway. I got lots of great ones for the yearbook!
