Back to School!
Back to School!
We had a big back to school party for all the kid’s classes at our house. This year, I decided to have them all the same day so I could just do one setup. We had the little kids over in the morning, and Serenity and Donovan’s classes over in the afternoon. Since they have four families with kids in both, it worked out pretty well to have them together. This year we had a Bubble Party! Eric hunted down a big kiddie pool and I made giant bubble solution. It made for some pretty cute back to school pictures. =) The kids loved seeing their friends again, and we got to meet one of the new girls in Maia’s class. She played in the sandbox with Maia so Maia adores her already.
All three kids are so excited about being back in school. Maia jumped the whole way down the hall to her commons and exuberantly hugged all her teachers. I think she snuck a few elbow snuggles in too, but she was gentle and subtle so I let that slide. She’s supposed to greet her teachers every morning when she comes in, and she has a choice of a handshake, hug, fist bump or high five. The first day she went for high five, and the second day she tried a handshake but she was jumping the whole time so it was a very interesting handshake. She loves telling me about her day, and whenever I ask one of the older kids about their days she comes up with more to tell me. I’m so glad to get so many details!!!
Donovan loves his new class too =) He loved Mrs. Ritchie this summer so he had no worries about being in her class. He has a third sheet of homework and he is very excited to be starting spelling tests! I hope it lasts! He gets recess every day which is very important to him, and he’s played a lot of four square and throwing the football with Andrew, Joseph and Hatcher.
Serenity has a new friend in her class! Nitya. She’s come up a lot when Serenity talks about her day, I’m so glad! Serenity had me put her hair in curlers for the first day of school and loved it so much we’ve already done it again. She looks so grown up with her hair styled! It’s crazy that she’s ten and in 4th grade. The EP teachers could hardly believe it when I took Maia to class and they realized what grade Serenity was in now. Time flies.
