Dec 25 December 23rd: Game Day (and Grandma Day for Maia)

Such a perfect day for Wainrights =) We got the kids two new board games, Pokemon Hedbandz and Near and Far. But we didn’t play those, instead we played DND!!! Carson and Barrett had mentioned they were interested in playing DND, and Eric helped them make characters. He offered to run a game for them, and taught Donovan and Serenity to make characters too. Donovan has made at least four characters since then! He is such a gamer =) I think he’ll probably make one of every class. We were a little worried we would get stymied by the weather, but we got the perfect amount of snow. Just enough to make the yard look pretty but not enough to affect the roads. Donovan and Barrett threw snowballs and played outside while they waited for Carson to arrive, but DND was the big hit of the day.

The kids had an absolute blast. We didn’t get started until about 1 when Carson was done with soccer, but the kids played for HOURS. Maia was spending the day with Grandma, which she loved. Jen brought her home, and had intended to pick up Barrett, but the kids asked to keep playing and spend the night! SWEET!!! It was so great!!! I told them I wanted to make a character and join next time and they begged me to make a wizard so they had a spellcaster. =) They fought an Ankheg (and won, which was veerrry lucky), a poltergeist, and a little Ankheg. Barrett drew his character, and it was beautifully done. Carson wrote up his backstory, so they both got bonus XP.

Maia loved her day with Grandma =) Mom said her chair was the best toy in her house. They played play-doh and watched movies. I made the mistake of forgetting to write Grandma Day on the advent calendar though. I only wrote Game Day, so she was pretty sure Grandma was supposed to play Pokemon Hedbandz with her =)
