December 13th: New Books
December 13th: New books!
Today was the last full day of school for the kids… so I spent it running all the errands I possibly could ;) I picked up a few more presents, including a last minute brainstorm for the Winter Concert advent activity. I got some fancy new accessories for them that I think they’ll love! I also picked up some things for the candy party Friday but I definitely will need another grocery trip after I settle on candy recipes.
It was a special day at school! Donovan got to have a Pajama Party! His class had collected pajamas to donate to a neighboring school, and they got to wear their own pajamas to school to deliver them. He had a blast! I’m so glad his cough was better and he got to go! The extreme temperature fluctuations always get him croupy.
I brought birthday treats for Maia to her class. I’m starting to get to know the kids in her class, and they were all so cute and excited for donut holes and my little pony napkins =) They sang Happy Birthday to Maia and she was thrilled.
After school Maia and I snuggled up and read all the new books I’d ordered from scholastic. I got the Polar Express, Santa’s Reindeer Games (which is pretty funny and fun to read), Maple and Willow’s Christmas Tree, She’ll Be Coming UP the Mountain (drawn by the same person who did Ten In The Sled, which is one of our winter favorites.) Then we read them again with Serenity and DZ, and Serenity pulled out the Christmas joke book I bought and got us all giggling. New book day is just my favorite advent activity. And I ordered enough Usborne books we can do it again over break!!!
The kids also wrote some cards for their teachers, which was fun. I wrote the words just as Maia told me to, which as you might expect had excellent results. Maia made one for Aunt Jennifer that said “I love you so much. I need a hug and a drink. “ =)
