December 8th: Spelling Bee, Gingerbread Cookies, Aquarium Overnight!

Today was a wildly busy and fun day!  Serenity was in her school spelling bee!  She did a wonderful job.  I’m a good speller and I’m pretty sure I would have missed the word she got out on as well.  Dirndl just looks like it should have an e at the end. She correctly spelled Cattle, Barrette, Propaganda, Partition,Morsel. She can spell those words standing on her head. I know this, because that is her preferred way to practice spelling! Sometimes she mixes it up and cartwheels while she spells. Yay Serenity! Aka Emperor Spellatine.

She wanted curly hair for the spelling bee, and we succeeded at using the new rollers while she slept =)

I picked up gingerbread cookies at Merritt’s for DZs class to decorate.  His teachers plan such fun stuff!  I actually ordered gingerbread shaped sugar cookies but they made gingerbread.  They ended up giving me those and making another batch of sugar for me.  It worked out!  And actually most of the kids chose gingerbread !  Mrs Carter let Maia come too.  She fits right in with the kindergarteners, she’s so tall.

After school Liz came home with us as we have a Girl Scout event.  I’m actually writing this while listening to the waterfall near the turtle tank.  We are sleeping at the aquarium!!! I love our spot, the waterfall is soothing and we got a corner to ourselves.  Wren, Liz, Lorelai and her mom Ashley are with us and it was so fun!  The girls explored the aquarium in their pajamas.  I love the sea turtle and pufferfish so much!  Serenity didn’t want to watch the movie so she took the little flashlight they gave us and sketched.  So fun!  When the others got sleepy and came back, she and Liz drew each other spot the difference pics.  Everyone but me is asleep now!  It’s amazing that I outlasted everyone!  Although I did drink an evening Dr Pepper and took a nap after school 😂 plus I caught a lot of Pokémon.  Gen 3 released today!
