Brian made the mistake of asking Chrissie to soup up his wedding favors and oh, boy did she! What would have been a two hour project turned into a two day project, but it was wonderful! We matted pictures and put them on Chinese take-out boxes, and then filled the boxes with custom fortune cookies, two hugs, and two kisses. =) Eric went back at 6am the next day, because Brian’s brother Michael doubted that he would actually do it. Chrissie and Brian never doubted though!
![]() Friday night a lot of our friends from college were in town, so we got together at Don Pepe’s for some yummy Mexican food (my choice, of course). Fred and Sarah met Gavin, Jennie, Eric and I at the restaurant. It was wonderful to finally meet Sarah! She and Fred are just perfect together, it’s nice to see. They have the same laugh =) We were in the middle of listening to silly dog stories about Carrie and Cocoa, and their dog, Polaris, when they started talking about Sandifer needing a new car since he and his wife are having a baby. Sarah sneakily mentioned that they’d be needing to sell their truck too, for the same reason! They’re having a baby too! Exciting news =) We stayed talking for a long time, and then we went back to Gavin and Jennie’s hotel for some cards.
After MANY e-mails back and forth trying to figure out a way for everyone to get together to visit on the weekend of Brian’s wedding, it finally occurred to me to use Mimi’s house! It’s empty right now, and it was very close to both the wedding and everyone’s hotels. It was perfect! Jennie and Gavin got there first, so we played some cards. Zippy and Pokey beat us, but just barely. It was a crazy back and forth game! We were behind the first hand, and then made a five-nil to jump ahead. Then they got a ten for two hundred, but went down on bags. Then we made a blind nil to get to 349 to their 392. Then sadly, we had to set ourselves on a blind plus six, to give them bags, so we lost. Jennie would have made her blind except for her nine singleton of spades. But it was a great game =)
![]() ![]() Then, finally everyone else arrived! Jessie, Scott and Nate were first, with Jackie and Michael. Then, Brent and Abbey arrived! Brent was so funny. He said to Brendan, “Let’s go and see your public” when he pulled him out of the carseat. It was fun, we took turns holding the babies and chatted away until lunchtime. Then we met Fred, Sarah, Tom, and Mary for lunch.
The wedding!
We all had a great time at Brian’s wedding. We didn’t get to see too much of Brian and Linh, but I did finally get to meet her at least! We took a big group picture outside. We got it all set up so Brian and Linh could easily join us. Fred told Brian about the baby when he was introducing Linh to Sarah. Brian’s double take was classic! Then we went back to our table. We had a little too much fun in the corner perhaps. There were tons of courses, and lots of alcohol. There was a lazy susan in the middle of the table, and when we spun it around, some napkins sitting on the edge knocked over my champagne glass in my lap. Fortunately, I had a change of clothes in the car. We danced for a bit later on. We did a very long Train and had fun dancing to Summer Loving. The music was waaaay too loud. Eric wore his beautiful new outfit that I bought him. He looks gorgeous in green and brown =) Eric did his traditional spinning hugs, including one for Brian’s uncle.
