9/2/16Back to school for the big kids means more Mama time for Maia. We are spending a lot of time rocking in our chair, reading Rocket’s ABCs, 1,2,3, peas, and Unicorn Thinks he’s Pretty Great. She has lots of favorites. Oh, Pete the Cat buttons is a frequent favorite too. She loves our train set now. It started with Farfar building her circle tracks on his last visit, but we got them out again and she can actually connect the tracks, and spends more time building than tearing apart. She loves it! It has taken over our entryway, and is a blast. She and Donovan both enjoy this activity, and I love to see them really play.
When we walk the kids into school, if they are ahead of us on the path, she says “Serenity, DZ, don’t go!” I think the back to school routine is hardest on her so far! But we will get it figured out. Soon I hope, since twice in the last two weeks she has ended up naked and rolling around on the grass outside USchool. She changed her mind about the wisdom of wearing sleepers mid-drop off. Our routine is growing on her though, she’s happy to walk Serenity to her locker, and room and gives her and DZ hugs. Leaving the EC commons and the slide is less fun, but she loves the little balance beam (curb) with maple trees and dirt that we walk through on the way back to the car. We have discovered the fun of helicopter seeds, a little stump, balancing, and getting a little dirty. And now she mostly lets me hold her in the street and parking lot =)
