December 18th: Happy Birthday to Maia!!!!
I can't believe Maia is two years old! Sudafed woke me up at 4:30, so I finished wrapping a big cardboard house for the kids to decorate and play in. Maia was thrilled when she realized she got to put stickers on it. She adores stickers, but is not as excited to put them on plain paper. She often puts them on the floor, furniture, and gets in trouble, so she loved getting to put stickers on something interesting.
For her birthday treat I got donuts and we had a donut cake. She was eating the donut holes around the cake even before we finished singing Happy Birthday, so I'd say it was a hit. She also loved the candles, since they spelled out HAPPY. She loves pointing out letters and saying letter sounds so it was even more fun.
While I was running out to get the donuts, Eric gave Maia a birthday bath. She loves baths. Right now she doesn't even want bath toys, she just wants the water. The rest of the day Maia asked for lots of books in the rocking chair and in her room. For some reason or other she'd bring me a book... and then put it back on the shelf before she chose another. Crazy =)
In the evening we had game night! We had lots of people over! It's so much fun, I just love having company in our new house! I got to play Kings of Tokyo, and there was also a fun rummy game. Later in the evening Alli, Madi, Carson and Raegan came over while their parents went to dinner. There were more games, including Dominion when Eric got Alex and his girlfriend Siqi from the airport. The kids built crazy forts and then had an epic building session with the leftover gumdrops and toothpicks. They built lots of red things for Darth Vader. Serenity started with a nice forest glade but then moved on to assisting Donovan with planes, furniture, and other things for Darth. Raegan built "happy house" with lots of furniture she arranged just so and some cute little people. I wonder where she gets that from? =)
