Hi.

Welcome!

Serenity in September

She chose Ballet for her activity this year =) I think it suits her. She loves the music and moving gracefully and expressively =) 9/14

One day during school pick up Serenity told me a long story about playing kitchen on the playground.  They used some really complex recipes.  Wet sand was the chocolate, dry sand vanilla cream.  After she described it to me for a while, I said, "sounds delectable."  In a voice of perfect disdain, she said, "Yeah... if you eat sand."  Lol!

Serenity started a new ballet class!  She's very excited to be in ballet again, and her friend Scarlet from school is in class with her!  The first day I asked her how it went and she said it was the greatest of great gratefulness.  =)

We had our first two meetings for Girl Scouts with me as the leader.  The first meeting was just for the five girls that were in it last year.  I wanted them to get to plan and vote on what we would do for the rest of the year, and also to make invitations to invite the other girls in their class to join.  I liked getting a chance to talk in a small group so they could really give input into what they liked doing.  Wren wants to do crafts, she made that very clear immediately.  A girl after my own heart =)  Serenity thought about it awhile and said she liked the projects where they help others.  Sophia liked the birthday frames.  They decorated the fliers I'd printed to give to the other girls, and then they each took home a box of leftover Girl Scout cookies that Scarlet's mom still had.  They each wrote a note on it and gave their cookies to someone they thought needed a smile.  Serenity gave hers to Trip, the new boy in their class.  I love her =)  She gave another box to Lorelai.  She is so excited that the other girls in their class are joining too!  Even though she tells me she misses Harper, which I do too, I think the troop is going to be fun!

Making flyers to invite other girls in her class to join our Daisy Troop

Giving out cookies as a Random Act of Kindness =)

Our second meeting was our parent meeting and investiture for the new girls.  I had the girls each decorate a petal with a part of the Girl Scout Law and the promise center with the Girl Scout Promise.  Each girl colored and glued and decorated their petal, and it turned out so cute!  I loved having everyone over at our new house!  They all fit!  It was wonderful!  Although loud, I probably should have let the girls go outside to play while I was trying to lead the parent meeting.  Oh well.  The parents voted against doing fall product, yay, and that was the main thing to discuss.  I got green sheets and dues from everyone, and everyone is registered now, so all that really needed to get done got done.  Good enough.  =)  During pinning the girls each red the part of the law or promise that they decorated, and then they made the girl scout sign and recited the promise together.  Such fun!

Daisy scout investiture party =)

Troop 44!

Serenity and I read a new book together, Tuesdays at the Castle.  It was awesome!  She begged me to read it every day.  It was so exciting she didn't want to read without me, and I felt the same way.  Sooo tempted to read ahead but I resisted.  We loved it!  And of course now I want to own every book by that author.  =)  I need bookshelves.  Guess these can go on Serenity's though.

Some more fun things about Serenity right now:

Her favorite game on the way home from school is asking me to guess every day which person has each job in class.  I started by randomly guessing but now I make her give me a clue at least.  So she'll say something like, "the recess managers last name ends with a W!"  So now at least I have a chance to get it =)

Loving spelling words.  Which is highly encouraged by Mama.  =)  They are having a spelling bee in her class on Tuesday.  After their "readathon" on Monday.  I love her school!  And kinda wish I could go to the readathon too.... =)

She and I are actually discussing books.  I read a couple of young adult novels, Winterling and Descendants.  I told her about Winterling offhand one day and she kept asking me questions until I'd told her the whole story!  And then she kept asking me for more details!  It was such fun!!!!  I told her a bit about descendants too and then she picked it up and started reading it for herself.  We definitely need to get the next one in the Tuesdays at the Castle series.  I found that book and the Winterling book off the Mighty Girl website.  So far loving all their recommendations.  =)

Papa and Grandma came for Grandparent's Day!

Jogathon! Only four laps this year... I don't think she cares for the heat. Or perhaps her mother wasn't too encouraging after watching videos on heatstroke for Daisy First Aid training...

Running with Barrett =)
