Hi.

Welcome!

December 13th: Board Games!

December 13th: Board Games!

Today was family game day. I usually buy a new board game for this, but this year the kids got several really awesome games from family. So instead of buying a less awesome game we cheated and opened a present from Auntie Marilyn early. Robot Face Race! It was a lot of fun! The racing part was a little hard for DZ, but he loved searching through the robots to find the ones with the right attributes, and he loved shaking up the game to see what we were hunting for. You have to find a robot with the right body color, eye color, nose and mouth colors. Serenity totally beats me at this. I have to try really hard to get any points at all! And she can beat Eric too! The kids also got to play X-men with Eric and Lost Puppies.

Thank you Auntie Marilyn!!!

Today Eric and I got to try glassblowing! It was something he mentioned last year that he would like to try, but as I was nine months pregnant at the time and really wanted to take the class too, I put it on the calendar for this year. It was awesome! And I can see that it would be really addictive. Eric said he could just spend hours making paperweights, just trying different twists and contortions to get interesting designs. We made an ornament, a paperweight and a flower. The ornament is the only one that was actually blown, the other two were solid. I actually blew my ornament out too fast and the first one cracked, so we got to do it twice. =) My with the paperweight we got to choose two colors, and after the teacher made the gather, we dipped each side into a different color. Stick it back in the heat to melt the color, and then we got to twist it with the jacks! This was so fun, like pulling crazy taffy or something. Then he gathered some more clear glass to be the smooth, outside part, and we got to use something that looked like a giant wooden smooth to round it out. The teacher helps a lot in this glassblowing experience glass, but they have other classes where you can learn to make your own gathers, and more complicated things.
