Hi.

Welcome!

December 5th: Frozen

Today we hosted a Frozen play date for Serenity's friends from school. I just love parties!!! Especially parties focused on experiments and crafts =) I think I love Frozen more than either of my kids, so we all had a lot of fun with this theme! We planned a science experiment, "Melting Anna's Frozen Heart." Dad froze little heart Christmas ornaments that Serenity found at Target into cool whip tubs. The kids got to sprinkle salt onto the ice and then squirt liquid watercolors onto it so they could see all the pretty cracks and ravines the salt melted into the ice. When they were done enjoying that part, they also could use the liquid watercolors to reveal secret messages written in white crayon on white paper. After that, everyone ate snowman snacks (just marshmallows, pretzel sticks, carrot sticks), cookies with blue hearts in them, juice and frozen fruit snacks. I'm much better with crafts than food. =)

I am not sure why Serenity is tied up in Rapunzel's hair...

How many people can jump on the bed at once?

The kids started playing upstairs, jumping on the beds, dismantling the cool ice palace we'd built out of crazy forts and improvising their own fun with the pieces. They played dress up, pretended to fight dragons, and all kinds of wonderful fun. A few children drifted downstairs again and I had a few more crafts to offer. We had little wooden ornaments that the kids could paint, decoupage a picture from Frozen, and decorate with gem stickers. I also had beads for icicles but no one got that far. I had so much fun, and I think the kids loved it too! Serenity asked very sweetly when we could do a party like this again, and she actually pitched right in to put her room back together! This was after a bit of a meltdown from exhaustion, but still she was a great help.
