The last month has been so amazingly hectic and fun, I’m not sure what I’ve written about yet! So I’ll just make lots of notes so we don’t forget any of the wonderful things that have been going on.
Serenity is completely addicted to Old MacDonald Had a Farm. She calls it “Old Donald’s Farm” and it is so cute when she requests it! I must have sung a thousand verses in the last month. One night, in the middle of the night after hours of complete silence, she said “Old Donald’s Farm!” I think she must have been dreaming about animals =) We do all the standard ones, but we’ve started branching out for variety’s sake and some interesting favorites we have are Old MacDonald has a Llama, a Monkey, a Frog, and Tina just added a Fish! There is some crazy farming going on. Ofte when I sing I’ll pause at “Old MacDonald had a….”so Serenity can fill in animals. She has lots of favorites, like chickens and cows, bu sometimes she’ll say, “Serenity!” She wants to be on the farm too. Interestingly, on the farms Serenities go “bawk bawk” which is just what the chicken says. She also will ask us to sing The Wheels on the Bus sometimes, and she’ll often say “Again! Again!” to any song we sing to her that she likes.
Tina has been visiting us for the last week which has been so wonderful! I have no idea how we would have gotten all the things accomplished without her help. All our stuff would probably still be in the garage. We’ve painted several rooms, done lots of minor fixes around the house, unpacked nearly all our boxes, organized into major categories all over the house, and she just keeps finding ways to help! Serenity loves having Tina here. She and Tina have fun tiptoing around the entryway (and they keep finding bears!)
We all went to the fair and the zoo together last week. Serenity enjoyed seeing the real live farm animals, and singing Old MacDonald with the cows around was very enlightening = ) She spoke to the cows in their own language of course, and when we said, a Mooo here and a Mooo Moo there, the cows chimed in very obligingly. She got to ride a little pony, which she loved. She was very excited. She kept repeating “HOLD ON!!” “Gidddyup” and “NEIGH!!!!” The man told her to hold on with both hands and then told me to hold her because he probably didn’t think she’d understand, but she certainly paid attention. They had an enormouse sandbox which she played in with Eric on our first fair visit and with Tina on the second visit. She loved the sand, but her favorite part was collecting toys. With Eric it was buckets. She wandered around with four buckets and kept looking for more to steal. Finally some other kids came over and asked if they could have buckets too. With Tina she collected rakes, but that wasn’t a problem as there wasn’t as big of a crowd. She also got to ride on some ride on toys (including a caterpillar!) and on Tuesday there was a show with a singing airplane that got big smiles and dancy feet! We also got free ice cream so Serenity enjoyed her first ice cream cone! It was too cute. Eric was just going to give her a lick of his, but she grabbed hold of the cone and buried her whole face in it and didn’t let go! She just kept sucking away at the ice cream! She comes by that honestly =)
The zoo was great fun! Serenity ran all over the zoo. The fox was particularly cute, although I’m glad we were the only people at the zoo because when Serenity says fox it doesn’t come out quite right every time… we have similar problems with frog right now…
Lately it sounds like Serenity is trying to talk in whole sentences or paragraphs even. It’s not all comprehensible, but every now and again I catch a phrase and I figure out what she’s talking about. She even does it in her crib, I hear her chatting away to her bear and her pacipers over the monitor.
