December 3rd: Gingerbread House Party =)
Today we had the cousins over for Gingerbread House decorating! The last two years I did this with Serenity's class also, but this year I kept picturing myself finishing thirty gingerbread houses and then going into labor with crumbs all over the house, so I decided to keep it smaller this year and do an easier craft for the classmates =) We had a blast together! My kids still needed help piping the icing on the houses, but the bigger kids did theirs all by themselves. They turned out so cute! I think my favorite additions this year were the little candy stars and lights, and the string candy you can tear into strips, those were fun to work with. The trees and gingerbread people were also very popular. It's so funny, whenever the kids get together the energy in the room just skyrockets. They play really well together. Donovan at least is thrilled by the rough and tumble play with the big boys. Sometimes a little too thrilled =) Serenity tried to find as many purple gumdrops as she could, and Donovan wanted to use all green candy at first. They both ate a TON of candy, but fortunately it was a beautiful day so I just sent them outside to run it off =) Jen and Kelly and I each made a house as well =) It's too much fun to let the kids do it all!
