Hi.

Welcome!

Serenity in August

8/10

Serenity was the princess of the woods. She assured me, "Don't worry Mama, I'm just pretending to be the princess of the woods, I'm really still your daughter.

Serenity has gotten so independent when it comes to crafting!  Nearly every day this week she has rooted around in the craft cabinet, pulling out her supplies and making whatever she dreams up in her imagination.  She made dozens of "I Love You Day" cards.  She'd cut hearts out of craft foam and stick them to paper with a big letter to indicate who they were for.  She cut out more hearts, decorated them with heart stickers, and gave those out too.  And then she'd talk Donovan and me into making I Love You Day cards for her.  It was so sweet!  And I love to see her making things!  She found an empty tape roll and turned it into a cat bed with tape and paper.  Donovan usually joins in with her crafting fun, scribbling on papers and bringing them to me saying, "I make a rainbow!  I make a airplane!  I make a slide!"

I Love You Day Cards =)

Carson got us all addicted to an ipad app called My Singing Monsters.  Eric, Serenity and I are all playing now, and we snuggle up in bed, feeding our monsters and breeding them.  It's silly and fun!  It's neat that Serenity can figure out how to make monsters based on which elements they need to have.  It's also a good lesson in saving.  She wants to buy cold island and a mini-mine, but then keeps spending her money on decorations.  It might be time to give her an allowance, but in the meantime saving for My Singing Monsters is a good first lesson. =)

9/11

Serenity has been reading her Fancy Nancy Tea Parties book every night, and asking us to have a tea party.  So one weekend we let her make a list of everything she needed for a party, and we picked up a few things at the grocery store to make fancy party punch.  Then Sunday we all got up, cleaned and decorated with whatever she wanted to use from our party supply stash.  She went for rainbow decorations, and it turned out very fancy!  We enjoyed our tea, mini cupcakes, and marshmallows.  The biggest hit was the jelly bellies though.  I had a bag of them and pulled them out since they matched the rainbows.  Serenity loved matching the beans to the chart to figure out the flavor, which was good since Daddy accidentally ate a cinnamon one before she started checking.  We all dressed up to be fancy too! =)  It was such fun!  My little party planner =)  We played Follow the Hostess, Fancy Freeze Tag, and Packing for Paris.

Decorating!

Serenity and I went to our first movie at the movie theater in a year!  It was a blast!  We saw Monster's University, and she sat through the entire thing.  She said she loves being my movie date, so I hope we get to go again soon!  Yay, finally get to go see all the fun kids movies!  My favorite =)  We shared a kids meal which is actually just about the right amount of food.  =)  I might start getting them for myself!

My movie date =)

Eric asked Serenity what I wanted for my birthday, and when she heard Build a Bear had My Little Ponies, she knew the perfect thing!  So we went to Build a Bear and she built me Rainbow Dash.  Donovan decided I needed Spike the Dragon to go with it.  We love our pony and it's been so much fun reading My Little Pony stories, watching the cartoon, and sharing one of my favorite childhood toys with my kids!
