I dressed Serenity up in her yellow Easter dress for her pictures today. She was such a sweetheart, sitting on the swing and playing with her duck and the flowers. She is getting even more talkative. Today she said “gracias” to Rosario. She also seems to be learning her letters from the alphabet board books I bought her and her abc book. Dad started holding up the books and asking “what’s this” and she correctly identified the M, V, T, and O. We were surprised by the V because we don’t even read that one much, but the M is no surprise because it has a monkey in it, and she goes bananas for monkeys right now. When you sing the abc song she’ll often chime in with some of the letters. She’s also starting to say short phrases, like “here you go” and “show Mama.” Show Mama is an especially cute game because she gets very excited to show off her treasures. And she shows other people too =) She is used to going outside to wave bye-bye to Mama and Daddy as they go to work, and will voluntarily say goodbye to other people too, although she has to think about it sometimes. Eric counts with her often, and she might even be starting to understand it a little. She’ll walk around with one thing in each hand and go “one, two, one, two!” And if I ask her if she wants one or two crackers she’ll say two =)
Today she played, “take the diaper out of the basket” with Rosario for half an hour at least. She’d go to the basket, and take her diapers one or a few at a time to Rosario. And then she’d take them back to the basket. Over and over again. Why do we buy toys? I just don’t know =) She would never put the last diaper back in the basket, I think she was afraid if they were ever all back in the basket the game would be over. When she finally did put the last one away we all cheered for her and praised her for picking up. I’ve been starting to try and get her to help put away her own toys, mostly her crayons at this point but sometimes at bedtime too. We’ll see, she does like to “help Mama.” =)
