Hi.

Welcome!

December 14th: Christmas Actions and Truth in the Tinsel

IMG_4417December 14th: Christmas Action Game and beginning of Truth in the Tinsel Since Eric and I had gotten so little sleep the night of the 12th, I rearranged things so today could be extremely laid back if we needed.  Then Donovan didn't sleep well at all last night between his croupiness and switching into our bed repeatedly.  He really prefers to sleep in his own bed for the most part, and he'd occasionally remember this and ask to go back, but when he wakes up crying he'd want us back.  And sometimes he wanted me, and sometimes he wanted Dada.  Anyway.  Sleep deprivation is leading me to ramble =)

IMG_4424 IMG_4425 We ended up having a surprisingly great day!  Serenity's mysterious fever disappeared again.  Once again, only briefly did it go over 100, then it was gone again.  Donovan's a bit croupy, but still able to play and very happy after his three hour nap.  While he was sleeping, I finally started the Truth in the Tinsel.  We read a passage in Isaiah about Jesus being the light of the world, and then made a beautiful candle ornament for our tree.  It was lots of fun, and the discussion went well I think.  Donovan loves the ornament as well, as he has taken it off the tree three times since waking up from his nap.  Good thing I laminated it.

We were both in a crafting mood after that project, so we opened our first Kiwi Crate from Grandma!  It was as awesome as advertised!  The theme is Antarctic fun.  So the first craft we did was painting the aurora borealis!  It was so cool, it came with oil pastels and watercolors.  First she colored with the oil pastels, and then she got to see how the watercolors wouldn't cover up the oil pastels!  Science and art together =)  It was really pretty too!  And the watercolor paper they sent was in postcard form, so we can mail out our creations!  She's really excited about that part too!

Then we used the supplies to make other things!  I wrote messages in white oil pastel for her to watercolor to be able to read them.  She loved making secret messages, and she got lots of writing practice!  Then one of the blogs I follow made a similar type of painting, making a night sky scene of Bethlehem with the Star in the sky, so we did that too with our supplies!  That one may be my favorite.  I did get out my own watercolor brushes because you really need the big flat brush to paint a proper sky, but she loved mixing the colors to shade different colors into the sky.  I also drew an oil pastel snowman scene for her to watercolor on.  =)

**Boochie:  This is one of Eric's 12 Games from his birthday!  It's like Bocce ball, except you can enjoy it indoors too.  There are soft vinyl balls, and hoops!  You have to try and throw the balls and hoops in all kinds of crazy ways.  It's really fun, even with a 4 year old against a 34 year old =)

**Christmas Actions: This is one of our favorite Christmas games.  They are such silly fun!  This year we especially enjoyed Marching like Nutcrackers, Flying like Angels, and Twirling like Snowflakes till we got dizzy and fell down.

**Snowflake book reading: I bought a few too many books for new book day, so I brought out another today.  Serenity found it in the morning and read it to Eric all on her own initiative!  Awesome!

Serenity randomly pulled out her science lab coat, goggles and id badge and asked to do science!  I love it!!!  She wanted to do volcanoes, but I didn't think I could keep Donovan from making a total mess without Eric.  So we did candy cane science instead.  We observed what happened when you put a candy cane in warm water.  First the color comes off and then it dissolves!  Fun!
