Today's morning was a little rocky. Donovan woke up around 4am, and although he got back into bed with us until 6 he wasn't really sleeping. He was so tired I actually put him back to bed so he could get a little more sleep. Basically I pushed snooze on our alarm clock because we all ended up sleeping until nearly 8. So we got ready for school and checked the advent calendar quickly. Today's plan was to craft, and Serenity was very excited! She had several ideas that we'll do another day, but today we crafted with Grandma and the cousins! Mom has a great plan for rustic ornaments for a cabin tree or for her next house. It involves lots of copper and pinecones. Today we made icicles out of beads strung on leather with feathers and red berries. It was fun, and I was so proud of how focused Serenity was on the craft! She made three, which was more than anyone!
Then we had the messy craft... peanut butter and birdseed pinecones. The kids enjoyed this a lot, although Barrett and Casey warned that we were actually going to feed evil squirrels instead of the birds. Casey was great at entertaining Donovan while I finished up the many pinecones Barrett had collected. The kids were so excited to see their cousins. Raegan arrived first and Serenity flew over to her shouting her name and gave her an exuberant hug. Not to be outdone Donovan said Raegan too and went over to hug her, and he said "awwww." It's so funny, he says that a lot when we hug now, because that's what we say when he does cute things like hug. Then when Casey and Barrett arrived Donovan started shouting "Barrett!" He actually seems to use Barrett's name for any big boy that he wants to play with, although he genuinely does love Barrett, he calls Casey Barrett at least half the time too. Tomorrow we'll hang them on our trees! I don't mind feeding squirrels =) It's so fun having a flock of birds hanging out outside our kitchen window. Donovan loves birds and he loves saying tweet tweet!
Today in the bath Donovan recognized the letters P, M, I, and X. Then he saw the E... and called it F. =) So many more letters! He's starting to talk in really long, incomprehensible paragraphs. I'll catch a word here and there but I'll have to ask him questions to figure out what he means. He's very proud when I get it though, and announces "YES!"
