Hi.

Welcome!

December 3rd: Angel Tree

December 3rd: Angel Tree We arrived at school a little early today to pick a name off the angel tree at school.  Serenity chose an 8 year old girl, and we talked about what she might like to have.  Serenity read her wish list and carried the card around Target while we shopped.  I think we've settled on a bike, and we found a nice one that we will pick up tomorrow.

Today I really enjoyed my time at home with just Donovan.  The best part of school days for me are having a little time when I can pay complete attention to Donovan.  Today we built lego airplanes and ran around the house zooming them like crazy.  We crashed in front of the letter board, and he showed me several letters that he recognizes.  It's so hard to just wait for him to tell me when he knows one, rather than urging him to answer my questions about it, or trying to get him to repeat letters to me, but he definitely prefers to be the leader in that kind of conversation.  Serenity likes feeling that she knows the right answer and showing it.  Donovan isn't interested in that just yet, but he is still absorbing the same information.  We played with choo-choos, the cars from Rush Hour, and then he napped with his jaguar and dinosaur.  I'm still loving the mornings with no screens, although I do surreptitiously check my messages, I'm even doing that much less.

Serenity played Nutcracker with Eric tonight.  She was twirling and leaping so beautifully!  She told him she was Clara and he was the mouse king, and she pretended to run and dance away from him over and over.  Then she threw her shoe at him to defeat him.  Eric, it turns out, didn't know the story of the Nutcracker and so was a little surprised by that turn of events.!
