12/19/11 Today was puzzle day! I found a new puzzle at Target and we put it together. It was a 100 piece puzzle, with pretty small pieces, so it was actually fun for me too. But it was divided into sections, so Serenity could help once I collected pieces for a particular segment. Worked perfectly! This year Donovan just participated by chewing on his toys and watching, but next year he’ll get a puzzle too =) I just love them!
I had an eye doctor appointment today, and as I neglected to get a sitter till the last second, Donovan and Serenity ended up waiting in the car with my Mom. For forty five minutes! Serenity had her IPAD and so entertained herself quite well, and Donovan slept some and made silly sounds the rest of the time. Mom was kind of surprised to hear him make any noise at all. =) At one point, Serenity looked at Donovan and said, “Oh Buddy, I love you so much! I wish you would open your eyes so we could visit!”
The rest of the day we spent snuggled in at home. We picked up a pile of library books to read, and then Serenity came up with some crafts to do for them. All by herself! She found her glue bottle and dripped dot after dot of glue all over the paper and then asked for glitter to cover it so it would look like stars in the sky. I think she must have done something similar at school, it turned out really neat! And then in that same book they talk about making a star to hold in your pocket, so she asked to make one. I had a star shaped post-it note, so we used that as a cutting guide. Serenity wielded the scissors and cut out her own star, then decorated it with glitter, sequins, and confetti. Then we put it into contact paper to laminate it. We had to double layer the contact paper to keep all the glitter inside. It was beautiful, and then she wanted to go find pants with pockets so she could carry it with her. And then she gave it to her daddy when he came home. =)
