6/11/11Serenity is reveling in her new role as big sister! When we brought him home she said over and over, “I LOVE you little Donovan!” She gives him gentle hugs and snuggles, although we still remind her to keep it gentle and slow fairly often. She does this hilarious exaggerated slow walk towards him, then turns and runs fast away, then back to her veeery slow, picking each knee up high walk to hug her baby brother. She has chosen the book I’m a Big Sister for her bed book all week. And she read Donovan his first bedtime story! She chose Biscuit and the Bunny. So sweet! Oh, and she thinks I look like a princess in the lavender cotton robe I got for the hospital. =) She’s been calling me Princess Mama since I got home =)
Thanks to the touchpad on Eric’s laptop Serenity can now navigate the internet nearly by herself. Well, I point her towards the web pages she likes, like Starfall, and she can move the mouse and click herself now. Which is what is currently leaving me hands free to type these updates as she is still in my lap, but doesn’t need me to run the mouse. =)

Serenity has had her very first two swimming lessons! She came home full of excitement and stories about her teacher, Miss Sara. She showed off her swimming stroke and kick the first night in the bathtub, and apparently the second day she learned “rocket arms” and dunking her face. Oh, and maybe jumping in. I’m so excited for parent observation day!
We did the testing required for Uschool this week too. I was a bit worried about it because she didn’t get in bed until after midnight before the first day, because she was flying back from Cali. But she was polite and responsive to the testing person, and even enjoyed herself =) Not too sure precisely what they discovered during testing, but the lady said she did well.
Serenity and Eric went by themselves to Cali for Eddie’s wedding, since Donovan was too young to travel. They had a blast! I’m so happy and proud of her, she is becoming very adaptable and confident. A year ago that long away from Mama wouldn’t have gone so well. She has given me lots of snuggles since she got home too =)
6/24 Serenity keeps introducing herself to me today =) “Hi, I’m Serenity, The Helper!” =) I’m glad that she’s excited to be my helper. It’s too cute =) Today she ran up to me and said, “I need something that starts with the letter M!” And I asked her what she needed, and she said, “Mommy! You start with the letter M!” =)

Serenity had a bit of a fever the last few days, and we kept her away from Donovan since at just three weeks he’s too little for Tylenol. She did not like it much, and when we started letting her play with him again, she said, “Hello Donovan! Nice to meet you Donovan! I’m so glad to have you!”
“I’m not a blonde girl, I’m a hugging girl!”
She uses the cutest little phrases when she’s excited about things. For example, Kelly gave her a little flower lei for the Fourth of July, and she said, “This is the most beautiful necklace I ever seen!” She’ll declare things the best, most delicious, most beautiful, and so on with such enthusiasm! I also love how she calls things “cutie.” She said Donovan was so cutie. That phrase has even worked its way into my vocabulary. I tell her she’s cutie all the time now too. =)
