Vasa

We made it to Vasa! This was number one on Eric’s wishlist and it was incredible! It’s a museum built around an enormous boat salvaged from the sea! 98% of it was recovered and the intricate carvings were so cool.

Maia found a painted replica of the masthead that she showed us. The Vasa would have been extremely colorful!

Donovan and I tried to find all the different lions. There were lions carved on all the cannon windows, and the figurehead was a lion!

There were two carvings of Hercules, one after he slew the Nemean lion and the other after he caught Cerberus.

DZ and I loved this Roman soldier standing on a lion with a puppy on the lion’s head. 🤩
