Sera Odyssey
Sera has joined a new club! Eric took her to an informational meeting of Odyssey of the Mind, and she fell in love! The other kids in it are as quirky and enthusiastic as she is, and she loves having weekly Odyssey sessions to brainstorm and create!
A random brainstorming session about a typical day in Ohio… which makes the whole team dissolve in giggles. I haven’t asked about how they feel on posting pictures so I’ll save the pictures of people for the actual scrapbook.
I went to the training session just in case there wasn’t a coach available for her group. It was really interesting, especially the emphasis on NO parental involvement. We aren’t allowed to help, at all, and it’s SO hard because it is such fun! They are building random stuff and I so want to play too. I am hosting all the Odyssey meetings because I just have all the supplies that they might need on hand, but sometimes I hide in my bedroom to stop myself from making any suggestions. It’s a real learning experience, on how to keep their project moving along, but the kids have great ideas and are getting it done! They chose Problem 3, which is the history problem. This year is inspired by the story of the Trojan Horse in the Odyssey. The kids watched a video on Overly Sarcastic Productions, to get a little more information on the Odyssey. It was hilarious and fun to have all these middle school kids hanging out!
