Maia and Grandma Puppy Quest

Maia campaigned long and hard for a dog, making a detailed poster of pros and cons, and how to make having a dog work! She finally convinced her Daddy, and Grandma wanted to get her a dog! She got a big book at the last school book fair full of 100 different dog breeds, which she read cover to cover. After that, she had it narrowed to a few choices, and then after discussing with Grandma, she decided she wanted a Sheltie! A Shetland Sheepdog. Well, Mom went online and found a lady that breeds them, and made friends with her so she’d give Maia the prettiest puppy in the litter! Then in July, Grandma and Maia and I went on a road trip to meet some puppies!! The whole way there Maia chattered about how much she loves dogs, and maybe we could get two dogs and then we could have baby dogs, and then we should build an addition on our house to hold all our dogs…. It’s like there were two Diane M Hale s in the car. She was instantly in love with the puppy she’d seen pictures of, even though there were several other choices at the time. And she changed her mind on the name, from Skye to Finn! She had come up with a list of choices that had something to do with Scotland, since the Shetland Islands are near Scotland and she had researched Scotland for her Country in a Can. But when she saw the puppy, he had a little dark swath of hair, and she thought it looked like a fin! She never wavered on the name! He is soooo fluffy and sweet!

He was sooo fluffy and mellow! He cuddled up in her lap the whole time!
