DZ's 10th Birthday Trip Part 2
The employee who took this picture also has T1D! And DZ saw another kid with a CGM on our trip! It’s awesome to meet other people with diabetes and see them doing great things!
One more day of adventure! New experiences for me and DZ! We started with a virtual reality game. I fought zombies for this kid . The technology was amazing even if the game design was stressful! It was very cool and exciting! Definitely one of Donovan’s favorite parts of the weekend! At one point we were supposed to walk across a steel beam to get to an elevator to get to the missile we were supposed to set off. I had to peek at the carpet before I would walk on it . Then an hour later I was walking on beams in midair in real life. ;) “I killed zombies” was the first thing he told his sisters when he started telling them about his trip.
Then we did a ropes course! I had never done one before. I was worried the zip line might be too fast for me but it was fun! Even if I landed on my backside every time . Mulch makes an interesting souvenir . I did 3 out of the 5 courses because my legs were getting tired and we still had four hours of driving to do! Donovan and Eric did the whole thing! Donovan flew through the course. Eric went a little more cautiously but he did it! So much fun!
I was ok on the bridges and when I could hold on with a death grip to my rope, but I was not at all sure about zipping down to the ground. I don’t like to go fast! I avoided ropes courses my whole life for that reason but it was FUN! And terrifying and made my legs shake but I’m so glad I went!
These rings were the toughest thing on the course according to DZ
See how high!!!!
At one point Eric started singing “Anything you can do, I can do SLOWER” . Donovan did have to wait for him some but he stuck with it!
Wore him out =) He got this Dino when we went shopping for road trip supplies, and then named him “Dunno”. What’s his name? Dunno. The comic potential was endless
