Serenity's 13th Birthday Update
Serenity is 13!!! Chapter 13, I hope it is just as wonderful as she is. She is snuggly and affectionate, funny and so incredibly smart. She loves math class, and reading, and she gets so excited when she’s sharing a great part of her book. She loves her siblings and still considers Liz and Henry her best friends. I am so excited to see what the next 13 years bring!
Serenity Month by Month:
July 2020: Sloth Spa Sleepover Birthday!
July 2020: She got into my jewelry box and we had a blast!
August 2020: Back to School!
Serenity’s class got to be together in the library! Serenity loved being so close to all those books. It was an anxious year with all the Covid issues, but she loved her teachers, Mrs. Cox and Ms. Dawson.
September 2020: Still my Nature Girl! Serenity loves walking in the greenbelt. They make forts and clean up in a quiet area of the forest. She and Ava would disappear into the woods when we’d meet to picnic in the greenbelt, and she and her siblings do the same! She makes little shapes and pots out of clay that she digs, and she has quite a collection of little stones and shells from her nature time.
October 2020: Book Fair Dress Up Day! I love that they got to wear these costumes again, and the next week they used their Halloween costumes!
Halloween 2020: After Maia and I started reading the Ranger’s Apprentice series together, Donovan and Serenity got sucked into the read aloud and it turned into a family event! I LOVE it! We made it through the first five books in the series together, so it was a perfect family Halloween costume theme! I ordered capes and costumes from Amazon, and wooden bows for Maia and Donovan and a slingshot for Serenity. Serenity wanted to be Princess Cassandra. So much fun!!!
November 2020
December 2020! For NYE, we reorganized Serenity’s room! We added a bookshelf, sorted and labeled all the shelves, and it’s so organized and beautiful! And Serenity kept it that way for months!
January 2021: Serenity is starting to show an interest in art! She draws things while facetiming with her friend Liz, and she’s gotten some tips from her friend Lorelai. She even did a drawing summer camp at USchool! It’s so exciting!
February 2021: They did a lot of bird drawings this year in art! Mrs. Gore rocks!
March 2021: Serenity and I walk around campus often because P.E. class is so noisy and stressful. She was so adorable with the dandelion matching her mask! I love our conversations when we’re walking together, and I love that she figured out earmuffs help muffle the noise that stresses her out. So great!
March 2021: At the Botanic Garden! Serenity rocks a lot of jumpsuits these days, so stylish! She made this tiny origami dragon, the first of many because she loves the Wings of Fire series so much. A soft yellow is her favorite color at the moment too!
April 2021: Serenity found the golden egg! That means it’s her turn to hide them next. She loves this rainbow romper, it’s very soft and comfy!
May 2021: Serenity sculpted these medals from clay for Creative Producers! They are Nobel Prize medals!
May 2021: This has been Serenity’s favorite outfit for years! And she earned that headband from Girl Scout cookie sales!
June 2021: Serenity got bangs! She combed her long hair in front of her hair for days trying to convince me she could handle bangs. I finally told her, “Honey, I have no objection to bangs, I’m just not going to risk trying to cut them myself!!” She’s vaccinated, she can have a real haircut! She looks SO grown up! The bangs really suit her, although I love her long hair too. We just had a lot of hair built up from quarantine!
July 2021: She loves the pool! We got her a new watermelon swimsuit since her last one from her watermelon birthday was worn out.
4th of July 2021! We got to be with family for the holiday, yay vaccines!

Serenity discovered she likes playing kickball at recess!
Serenity loves loves loves her sibbies! It’s so cute that she calls them that.
Serenity read so many great series this year! She got the first three of the Enola Holmes mysteries for Christmas, and we instantly ordered the rest of them, they are hilarious! Ava introduced her to the Land of Stories at one of our picnics in the greenbelt, and she had to read the whole series!
Serenity loves her kiwi pillow! And the fruit. I also love her in this elvish crown she admired when she saw it on Amazon. She was so thrilled to see it!
Serenity LOVES rice krispie treats… and also this nightgown. She wears it about half the time she’s in the house, alternating with her animal jam nightgown that she can still wear from her 9th Animal Jam birthday I believe.
Serenity made a freehand dexcom tattoo so she could match Donovan. Donovan was thrilled! She is such an awesome, supportive big sister. And crafty too!
Serenity adores Grandma’s kitties Sara Beth and Sammy.
Serenity offered to let me do something fun with her hair on Mother’s Day. She’s so thoughtful, we had a blast!
