Serenity Virtual School
Serenity thrived during virtual schooling. She discovered that she actually loves Chinese, and her Chinese handwriting is beautiful. It was just so much more fun to do Chinese when she was well rested from home. She loved getting to do things on her own schedule and after sleeping much later, even when she had a morning Zoom meeting she didn’t have to get up nearly as early.
For her Creative Producers project this year, she researched Norway. She taught us all about Dragestil, or dragon style architecture. It’s so cool! She did some beautiful artwork combining a shaving cream dyed background and a line drawing of a church in Dragestil. It’s hanging in the office. She also made a recipe from Norway, a cookie called Kringla. It is delicious! Eric especially loved it. She took some and did porch drops at her friends Daniel and Lillyan’s houses.
It was Serenity’s idea to take nice pictures of the Zoom where they presented their artwork! So fun!

For the last week of virtual school, her teachers planned lots of fun activities! She made a solar oven (although it was a few weeks before we had enough sun to use it, it did work!), they made ice cream together over Zoom, did a virtual scavenger hunt through a Natural History museum, and then had a Maker Challenge! Serenity made a cool tree house using the inventor box. =)
