Donovan met the Mayor!

Donovan got to go on an amazing field trip with his class! He got to visit the mayor’s office!  He was especially excited that he got to ask the first question, and that his question got such an interesting answer!  He asked Mayor Bynum if Tulsa has a problem with trash, are our landfills filling up, and what happens to our trash.  The mayor told him that Tulsa is doing a great job taking care of trash.  Only five percent of the trash ends up in a landfill.  After the recyclables are separated, the rest is taken and burned and used to make energy.  Then they use a giant magnet to fish out all the metal and recycle that.  Then the ashes are used for fertilizer!  It was a great question! The mayor answered their questions for a whole hour, and it was so interesting I texted notes to Eric!  They also went to see Council Oak tree, the Center of the Universe, and then lunch at the Mother Road Market.  It was quite a morning!
