Cruise Day 1
Disney Cruise day one!
Today was magical. At dinner Daphne asked why everything was so magical and we all just felt the same. Even the wait to get on the boat was fun. We got to meet and take pictures with Mickey and Pluto. Mata kept touching Mickey’s nose and hugging him. When Pluto took Mickey’s spot I asked if anyone wanted to get back in line to see him. I didn’t really expect anyone to want to wait to see him but Maia and the other little girls hopped right up. And Olivia came then so she joined us :). Maia had her hair up in high buns to look like Minnie Mouse and Pluto especially loved it! They started drooping later but Serenity said it just looked like Pluto ears so she was still happy!
We got on board and grabbed some food. Tons of choices! Serenity tasted crab after watching Marilyn enthusiastically enjoying hers.
We went to the kids club during open house, the only time they let grownups in. I totally want to go to the kids club! We got to see Thor and learn how to wield Mjolnir! All the kids made hammers of their own and practiced moves that they used against an angry frost giant. Oh, and they studied the nine realms. So fun! Maia told Thor he is her favorite superhero. He was very flattered :) he asked her what superhero power she would like and she said Super Strength! So they did a super strong muscle pose.
We were having so much fun we stayed in the kids club to see BB8! The resistance leader was pretty impressed that Maia knew the planet Jakku, Finn’s life story as a disillusioned first order storm trooper, and captain phasma. BB8 talked to her about all the records she’d studied. She told him he is her favorite Star Wars character. Which is totally true, I wish we’d packed her BB8 dress!
After that we finally visited our room, which is amazing. You have to get a deluxe stateroom to fit five people and it shows. We have a giant window! And bunk beds that come down from the ceiling!
There was a mandatory drill, which might have been a boring wait but we saw dolphins playing in the water! So even that was fun. Kids hit the pool next and the sail away deck party.
Donovan and Evan are inseparable. Donovan wants to do everything he does. They did the purloined puppies mystery and successfully rescued a bunch of Dalmatians and solved the mystery of who stole them.
Serenity is so happy to get to hang out with Henry. They did the aqueduct, the giant tube slide around the whole boat twice! They solved the ship mystery about the paintings.
The sail away deck party was chaotic crazy fun. Maia joined the dance party and conga line. All the kids did the smaller slide a bunch of times. And they swam in a Mickey shaped pool.
Maia was ready for a rest, so we headed back to the room. We joined Evie and Veronica to meet Minnie, who Maia told she is her favorite Disney Character. She is very complimentary and so excited to meet everyone! She remembered meeting Minnie and Mickey at Aulani and has been excited to see them again!!!
After that we went to the show. We sat with Evie and since Eric came later with Serenity and Donovan they sat elsewhere. Eric said they were on the edge of their seats the whole time, just enraptured by the singing and dancing! I love it!! Maia loved it too. She bounced and laughed and shouted “my daddy sings that song!” When the cast sang zippity doo da. So wonderful! She was pretty sleepy too as she snuggled up and rubbed my elbow too. She heard about the Doc Macstuffins party in the kid club and asked to be dropped off there. She made a stethoscope and had a blast! I checked her back out after that show and we found Belle in the hallway. She hugged her and beamed and told her she is her favorite princess. Love!
Meanwhile, the other kids worked on their mystery adventures. There are interactive paintings scattered throughout the ship that contain clues to Disney Villainous activities.
We met up again for dinner. The kids got their own table, and the waiters were amazing. Dinner was delicious and I loved dessert :) lemon icebox pie! Mmmm. Onpracha requested we get animator’s Palate as many times as possible because she heard it was fun, and she was so right! It was amazing! We totally loved it. There were characters from finding Nemo playing across screens around the room. Crush, the cool dude sea turtle actually interacted with the audience. I have no ! idea how, it was actually magical. He spoke to Eric and asked him his name, where he’s from. He commented that Oklahoma is landlocked so he’s never been there. He taught him a cool move which Eric did with Maia on his shoulders. Crush looked amazed when Eric did it well! And it really seemed like he could see Eric and respond to what he did! They also had fun games to keep kids entertained, like the school of fish shape guessing game, and a game Crush did where you put one fin up if he says awesome, both hands up for totally, hands behind for sweet, and the other fun up for righteous.
And now we are in bed. Whew. Incredible day!
