Girl Scout Campout
We went on a camping trip for Girl Scouts! Tina came all the way from California to go with us. We had SO much fun! We spent Friday night up there with just our family, and then the rest of the scouts joined us Saturday morning. We made lots of campfires with Tina! The first night we had little smokie hot dogs, and all the kids enjoyed them. On Saturday, Tina taught the girls how to tie some knots. We went for a long hike to McQuiddy’s Point. The girls stopped several times to draw animal habitats in their journals. And we used all our senses. It was funny when I had them all try to find a spot they could be still and quiet for a time and just listen. Lillyan wrote down about a dozen things that she could notice when we were quiet. They all enjoyed it. =) Serenity found a teeny tiny acorn that she carried on the whole trip.
I was VERY grateful to have an experience camper help with the fires!
We finally got to stay in the yurts! The girls had been begging to camp in the yurts since they were Daisies! And Girl Scouts leave things cleaner than they found them =)
Our Tagalongs loved camping too!
Cooking Capers =) Simple meals are good practice too!
Stopping to sketch nature on our hike
On Sunday, Eric took the girls kayaking! Tina and I rowed Donovan and Maia in a big canoe too. It was SO much fun! I’m so grateful that he took the canoe training course! The weather was beautiful, although those that went in the water were COLD! Eric had people practice getting back in the canoe after falling out, flipping canoes, and rescuing him when he went in.
