Maia’s Birthday Update!
My baby is four years old today! She is truly growing into such a delightful girl. She’s funny and sweet and still loves to snuggle her Mama. And elbows. She still really loves elbows. =) She adores school and all her friends there, who she calls her “audience.” She’s gotten to an age where it’s much easier to take her places and we are enjoying every minute! She tells jokes now that sometimes even make sense, and she has a hysterical laugh she uses when telling jokes that is just as funny. She is extremely determined! She thinks she can do everything her big brother and sister do, and she proves herself right pretty often.
She is an extremely good reader. I’ll often hear her little voice at night putting herself to sleep reading aloud. It’s so sweet! She can read surprisingly long words. But she’s always been interested in letters, words and books so she definitely spends a lot of time on her reading! She reads the little I Can Read my little pony readers but I even see her seriously reading big books like the 5 minute stories. One night her brother and sister were camping out in her room, and they were trying to sleep so I asked if she could read in her mind instead of aloud. She said “But Mama, I need to read in my mouth!”

Maia is a tough girl! She loves to climb on things, and jump off things, and is pretty good at both. We’re going to sign her up for swim lessons in February. She loved swimming in the pool this summer and by the end of the summer she was actually starting to swim more than drown. Again, Serenity and Donovan swim, so of course she can swim.

Craft: Play-doh
Toys: When I asked Maia her favorite toy, she said Pinkie Pie and Rarity. Those are her two My Little Ponies from Build a Bear. She definitely asks to sleep with them every night, and dresses them up in their accessories. It’s adorable. She also loves dress-up stuff and creates amazing combinations of outfits that I love. Paw Patrol toys and vehicles in general. Ipad. Dr kit. MAGFORMERS. Oh she can spend a whole day with Magformers. Legos, both duplo and regular. She rides on the Plasma Car a lot.
She loves to play right here in front of the mirror =) We had a lot of tea party and play food fun this year!
She loves to ride bikes to the park!!!
Books: Maia adores the Elephant and Piggie series. She, Eric and I often read them together, and she assigns us each parts. It’s so fun! She even reads with proper emphasis based on lettering and punctuation, which is pretty amazing. Hilarious too. She also loves My Little Pony stories. She got a set of 5 minute pony stories that we’ve read often, and she has a set of I Can Read books that are MLP themed that she has read frequently. Cloudette, A Sister More Like Me, Christmas stories. She loves the Click Clack Peep series and we read a lot of them this year, including Click Clack Ho Ho Ho and the one about the baby Duck.
Show: Zoboomafoo, Blues Clues. At the beginning of the year she liked Paw Patrol and Umizoomi, but she is losing interest.
She still loves Paw Patrol dress up and toys!
Food: Still fruit. She loves strawberries, blueberries, and string cheese. She likes to go to chick-fil-a but mostly for the French fries. She eats a lot of peanut butter, on the spoon or in a sandwich. She likes burritos. She likes pasta although she has to be convinced to take the first bite nearly every time. =)
She ADORED meeting Minnie and Mickey at Aulani! I was surprised as we'd never watched the shows, but evidently 20 minutes of Mickey Mouse clubhouse in the hotel was enough, because when we walked by the restaurant she said we HAVE to meet Mickey! Luckily we had a character breakfast on the agenda!

September 2017: Climbing power =) I bought those shoes three years ago in the hopes that she would deign to wear shoes, since they were very soft leather with fuzzy insides. She didn't touch them for years, but once she started wearing them she wore them daily! Until she wore holes in the toe!
October 2017: Polar Bear! I don't know why she wanted to be a polar bear, but she was very definite and never wavered from that choice! It was so fun making her costume!
November 2017: Maia LIttle Pony! We did her birthday a little early =) She loved it!
We altered her polar bear costume into a Princess Celestia costume. I made wings and a tail, and the golden necklace. Notice the golden hooves as well =)
December 18th, 2017! Sleeping with Pinkie Pie, about to wake up to her birthday donut surprise!
She was so excited to be sung to, and about her pony birthday candles, that we sang twice today. First over donuts, then with cake =)
Chocolate are her favorite =)
