Hi.

Today was a busy day at school!  I got to help with Serenity’s art project.  This may be my favorite project yet! I had the kids do thumbprint self portraits.  The first day I went I had them make thumbprints and do a rough draft.  They wrote things about themselves, stories, lists of favorite things, and adjectives.  They are SO much fun to read through!  I enlarged the thumbprints and they wrote following the lines in rainbow sharpies.  They are hilarious and they look really pretty, I can’t wait for the frame to arrive!

My sister also chose this day to come do quiche with the class, so I got to help with that too. Everyone got to add toppings of their choice, spices (including nutmeg), cream, and eggs.  Serenity used spinach, egg and a tiny piece of bacon.  I sent her back to add more cheese because she put about five pieces of shredded cheese in at first. =)

After school we had Girl Scouts!  The girls had so much fun making rice bags for their teachers last year, I thought of another craft they could make to pass out.  We embellished vanilla jar candles.  They turned out really cute!  I had four different jobs, and the girls were paired into buddies to work on each job.  One group decided how to manage delivery, one group figured out what to write on the card, and they also cut them out and wrote the notes.  Another group measured the ribbon and figured out how much we could use on each jar since I had 55 jars and a finite amount of ribbon.  Serenity’s group did the math to figure out how many stickers each jar could have.  They were thrilled to hand out their creations, and I think the teachers were happy too.  =)  And I am grateful for my teacher appreciation committee/girl scout troop =) Oh, and for snacks, we had treats from around the world thanks to Cost Plus World Market.  Seaweed, rice cakes, pocky, Irish potato chips, and pizelle cookies from Italy.

After that, we had Papa’s birthday!  I made a pie and picked up Outback.  Papa loved his picture frame present =)  Eric got licorice jelly beans as his present from Dad.  Such a great day!
