Serenity's Birthday Update
Serenity is NINE years old! I can't believe next year she will be into double digits! I also can't believe I'm just posting this blog in October, but such is life.
I love Serenity SO much! She's growing into such a kind, funny, interesting girl! She loves her family and still considers Donovan her best buddy. She plays with Maia and longs to carry her around like a baby even though Maia's getting pretty big too. She loves to read, swing, and still enjoys being Nature Girl. On her actual birthday, Serenity went by Plant Girl and rocked the green cape and leafy glasses at lunch at Pei Wei and to Cherry Berry. We also went to the pool and two Pokémon gym raids! She is so much fun!!! She makes up funny songs and dances to her own tunes. She also loves acting. She had a blast as Loki in the Drama Festival last year, and we’re looking into acting classes for her. She memorizes lines fast and loves using dramatic expressions and tones. She’s never really been so into an activity that we stuck with one more than a year, but we’re hoping she finds one she loves, maybe this will be it! She adores Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes and Myths. They are giant books that she’s read through at least five times, more than I have.
Here are some of her favorite things as of her ninth birthday:
Favorite Books: Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes and Greek Myths. Heidi. Harry Potter (She made it halfway through book 5 this year before she got too nervous!) She still loves the books about magical animals.
Toy: She has a fairy door in her room, and a fairy named Sophia leaves her messages and pretty things she finds in nature. She’s left worry stones, messages on rocks, pretty leaves, and decorations for the fairy garden. Serenity adores her and leaves her messages. She even made a white board so she could write messages more easily.
She also really loves playing games on the computer and IPAD. Animal Jam is still a favorite, and she loves apps that let her build her own little worlds, like DragonVale, Tunnel Town, and other games like that. She also likes if they involve cute animals.
Activities: Swimming. Serenity is a fairly strong swimmer and she loves diving to the bottom of the pool to retrieve things. She’s good enough that we can let her in the deep end without worrying excessively.
Girl Scouts: Serenity is a Brownie now! The brownie badges are a lot of fun, and they can do so much more now. She earned a Household Elf badge (this is the one she added to the list herself as one of her top favorites) She made air freshener, learned about water conservation, and other ways to be a good helper around the house. She also earned First Aid, Pets, Painting, Home Scientist, Outdoor Artist, Outdoor Explorer, and two Cookie Badges. I was proud that she set a pretty high goal for Cookie Sales, and actually reached her goal. We were in the last days of the sale and she was pretty far away, but she loaded up all the cookies everyone had returned and went around our neighborhood until they were gone! She actually sold all the cookies people had asked to be donated too, so I had to get more from the cookie pantry. It was great! It really helped the troop too, because we had no unsold boxes. Maximum profits.
A year of pictures =)
