Back To School: Maia!

Maia started school!  She was absolutely thrilled that she finally got her turn to go to school.  She handled drop off like a champ, walking right into her class and finding a carpet square to sit on.  Mrs. McBride gave her a little jaguar friend to hold the first few days as they usually do, and Maia loved her.  She tells me all her teacher’s names, and she adores them.  Ms. Parent is magical.  I’m only sending her three days a week, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday.  On the first Friday, when she realized she didn’t get to go that day, she told me in the saddest voice, “but I will miss the 4!”  Every day Ms. Parent puts a post-it on the wall counting the days that we have been in school, and Maia didn’t want to miss even one school day!  So cute!  She is learning a lot already, and it’s so cute to hear her little 3 year old voice ask me to stand things up by saying “make it vertical, please.”  She also particularly loves the planet song and has sung it for me several times.  She seems to like her classmates and greets them in a big happy voice when we are waiting in the commons area for class to start.  Since Serenity is upstairs now, we have about 15 minutes after we drop her off and before we pick her up to hang out at school.  I actually really like it, it gives the kids a chance to tell me all about their day, and show me any school papers.  I bring a snack and Maia shares with her friend Katherine, who is usually there too waiting for Liz.  Maia is always very excited about earning her stickers, and we add them to the sticker book I made for everyone. 

We got to play with the teachers before the Back to School Picnic at school.  I love the EC teachers!!!

I had a little Back to School party for Maia's class.  I wanted her to get to meet some of her classmates and I wanted to meet them too!  I had lots of cute apple stuff left from a teacher appreciation meal, so it was pretty easy to put together.  The kids just played and had fun!  After I put up the decorations Maia asked every day if it was her birthday so I half expected her to burst into Happy Birthday song.
