December 16th: Movies and Popcorn! We had a nice lazy day at home today, which was perfect with our Advent activity: movies and popcorn. During the day Serenity and I watched Dora’s Christmas Carol, which Papa taped for us. We enjoyed the snuggling, and Serenity told me several times, “I’m so glad you’re here!” It’s so sweet =) When Daddy came home we watched Frosty the Snowman, the classic cartoon, with popcorn! Serenity liked this one too, and asked to watch it again.
Some other fun things that we did today include making a snowman out of paper plates, which went well with Frosty! It was really easy and fun! I saw it on a blog, and she recommended to put x’s where things like the eyes, nose, and buttons went. So we did that part, and Serenity was able to stick the pieces on with no help, she loves matching colors. Then I asked her what else her snowman needed, so we talked about parts of the face and body. She decided her snowman needed a mouth, and when I told her I didn’t have pink, she settled for red, and then said she needed a red semicircle, so that’s what she got. Then we added pink mittens, because I realized cardstock would work as well as my sticky foam =) Finally, the snowman needed a necklace, which we made from a pipe cleaner and jingle bell!
I also finished the outdoor lights, and the indoor ones with some help from Eric and a run to Target for another outdoor extension cord. Serenity was SO excited! I hadn’t been able to talk her into going outside even though it was a beautiful day, but when it started to get dark and Daddy came home she immediately wanted to go out to play with him and see lights =) She ran and danced around she was so excited! She ran between the lights on our little tree and the neighbors lights ooohing and aaahing. And when the snowflake icicle lights were up she had to touch all the big snowflakes. =) So happy! Another wonderful day =)
